Pentest work and code review split across an M5 Pro laptop and a Strix Halo

A security professional runs uncensored Qwen models for client work on a 64GB MacBook and a 128GB Strix Halo, using a containerised OpenCode setup with ported code-review skills.

At work this person has a 64GB MacBook M5 Pro and, depending on what a client allows, can also use Bedrock. Usually everything runs on the laptop through LM Studio with MLX models, lately Qwen 3.6 35B-A3B and Qwen 3.8 27B, both uncensored variants with MTP. For code review they use a Docker container running OpenCode with a set of ported Trail of Bits code-review skills.

For personal work they have a 128GB Strix Halo system, running either Lemonade or Halogen depending on the model, and currently spend most time in Halogen with Qwen 3.8 Flash Next. The pentest angle is what makes local attractive: client data can be discussed with a model without leaving the machine.
